How to write a professional quote that wins the job
Your quote is often the first real impression a customer gets of how you work. A clear, professional one wins jobs — and prevents disputes later. Here's how to nail it.
1. Itemise the work
Break the job into clear lines: what you'll supply, what you'll do, and the price of each. "Bathroom reno — $12,000" invites haggling. A breakdown shows value and justifies the number.
2. Be specific about what's included
Spell out what's covered and, just as importantly, what isn't. If tiles, fittings or rubbish removal are excluded, say so. Clarity now saves arguments later.
3. Put your branding on it
Your logo, business name, ABN and contact details make you look established and trustworthy. It's a small thing that makes a real difference to how a customer perceives your price.
4. Make it easy to accept
The faster and easier it is to say yes, the more jobs you win. A quote the customer can open on their phone and approve with one tap beats a PDF they have to print, sign and scan.
5. Follow up
Most quotes that go cold just needed a nudge. A quick, friendly follow-up a few days later wins a surprising number of jobs your competitors let slip.
